Butterwick Hospice Care

Butterwick is based in the north east of England and has three hospices, two adult hospices in Stockton on Tees and Bishop Auckland and one children's hospice, Butterwick House, also in Stockton-on-Tees.

A wide variety of services are provided both within and from each hospice and out into the communities they serve.

Butterwick provides specialist palliative care to children and adults with life limiting illnesses and provides that care in a friendly and homely environment.

The aim of Butterwick Hospice Care is to improve the quality of life for their patients and their families and to help them relate positively to every challenge they may encounter during their illness. They aim to help people see death as a part of life's journey.

Butterwick provides holistic centred care and responds to and respects the patients' and families' individual physical, social, cultural, educational, spiritual and emotional needs throughout the illness and bereavement.

It is their aim to acknowledge and respect the way each family cares for their relative and they endeavour to continue that chosen pattern of care. They work together to develop an environment based on support and mutual respect.

Butterwick works together with other service providers to ensure continuity of care is provided.
