2.0 Competition Entry Levels

There are two levels of competition:

a: BEGINNERS section for digital images, monochrome prints, and colour prints.

b: OPEN section for digital images, monochrome prints, and colour prints.

The Open Section is open to all members, but entry into the Beginner's Section is restricted as follows:

i A competitor new to Club Competitions is deemed to be a Beginner.

ii Beginners who win any one section will progress to the Open class of THAT SECTION ONLY in the following season.

iii At the discretion of the Competition Secretary, some new members to the Club may be of such a high standard that it would be inappropriate for them to be deemed Beginners. In this case, after discussion between the Competition Secretary and the member, they would be entered into the relevant Open Sections.

Members, or ex-members, of other Camera Clubs should enter the same Section(s) in the Stockton Camera Club competitions as in their previous or current Club.

3.0 Competition Entries

3.1 Whilst every care is taken of entries to competitions, the Club can take no responsibility for loss or damage, however caused.

3.2 Entries are required to be handed to the Competition Secretary by the date indicated on the Club Programme, unless other arrangements are announced at a Club meeting.

3.3 Entries for the all competitions are subject only to the normal constraints of taste and decency.

3.4 All entries are submitted, in advance, by the Competition Secretary to the judge appointed for the particular competition.

3.5 All entries are submitted to the judge without the member's name appearing on the entry. Instead, on payment of the annual Club Subscription at the start of the Season the member will be issued with a Membership Number, and this Membership Number is to be used to identify individual entries.

3.6 For prints, the reverse of the print is to be endorsed with:

THE TITLE OF THE PRINT
"STOCKTON CAMERA CLUB"
THE MEMBER'S NUMBER

The title of a print may be placed on the front of a print if a member so wishes, but the member's name must NOT appear on either the front or the back of a print.

3.7 Entries into Print Competitions shall be firmly mounted on lightweight board. (Note: entries into NCPF Competitions must now be mounted on board that does not exceed 3mm thickness).
The mounting board is to be of minimum size 5" x 7" , and maximum size 16" x 20".

3.8 In all competitions, the decision of the appointed judge is final.

3.9 Entries into any previous Club Competitions are not eligible for entry into subsequent Club Competitions, - apart from the Print and Digital Image competitions at the end of the year.

3.10 Entries from the Ladder Competition may be entered into subsequent Digital Image Competitions. However, entries from any previous Club Competition are not allowed in the Ladder Competition, - see Ladder Competition Rules.

3.11 A maximum of two entries may be made by each member into each category of the appropriate monthly competition.

3.12 At each Monthly Competition, for each Class of Entry, the judge will award placings of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Highly Commended. Scoring will be as follows:

1st Place 10 points
2nd Place 9 points
3rd Place 8 points
H.C. 7 points
All other entries 4 points

3.13 The overall Annual winner for each Competition Class (Open Monochrome Print, Open Colour Print, Open Digital Image etc.) will be the member totalling the highest number of points from the six best placed entries over the season.

3.14 For each Digital Image Competition a maximum of two images may be submitted. Each image should be in Jpeg format with the image width being 1072 pixels (max) and height being 746 pixels (max). The file name of each image shall include the author’s membership number and the title of the work only. Entries may either be sent by email to the competition secretary or may be submitted on a CD or memory stick (but not on floppy disks).

4. Print & Digital Image of the Year Competition

The competition is held at the end of each Season for the categories detailed above.

All entries MUST have been submitted to the current Season's print or digital competitions.

Entries are the member’s own choice of entry, and need not necessarily have been the best placed entries in any particular competition.

Up to two entries may be made in each of the appropriate sections, with the same conditions pertaining as in Section 3 (above).
